A Tribute to Kim Gallagher

by the Clark family

Our Ambler Olympic Club family lost one of its own this November, 2002. Kim Gallagher, a member of the Ambler Olympic Club as a youth, passed away after an extended illness. Kim, an extremely talented runner as a child went on to win two Olympic medals.
Our family had the privilege of meeting Ms. Gallagher on several occasions. Our children were thrilled to meet someone with such athletic talent who went on to achieve her goal of winning Olympic medals. More importantly, our family was impressed with her sense of humor, her positive attitude and the joy that she exhibited to everyone around her, especially in the face of illness.Kim was never boastful about her accomplishments like many athletes today. She showed how hard work and dedication are the keys to achievement. In an era where good role models for youth are hard to find, Kim Gallagher was an example of a great one.
