Meet Our Coaching Staff
Mike Wallace
has been a sprint, relay & spring program coach with the club since 2004. He raced in the 800m in middle school and high school, and has since run four marathons. He is married to Eula Wallace and they have two sons who have followed in their dad’s footsteps as runners: Corey and Christopher. Coach Mike is a Senior Marketing Manager for LSI Corporation, and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Cardwell D. Wootten, III
relates how Larry Wilson and Jose Orlena helped him start his own summer track program in 2002 (Whitemarsh Track Club) and sees his current role with Ambler as a way of giving back. Observing him at practice, it’s obvious that his passion for track and field is only matched by his love for coaching the kids who take up the sport. Coach Wootten’s “real” job is a sports trainer, but he is also the Girl’s and Boy’s Indoor Head Coach and the Boy’s Outdoor Head Coach at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, his old alma mater. He has realized a number of significant accomplishments in his twelve years of coaching track and field, including: two all-Americans, one triple-jump Florida State Golden South champ, six indoor state qualifiers and a medalist, five outdoor state qualifiers, the only 4x400 relay champs in Plymouth Whitemarsh school history, and five AAU nationally-ranked athletes.
Ken DiGioacchino, or “Coach D”
joined the coaching staff during the 2003 spring program. A high school friend and teammate to former AOC and Olympic great Kim Gallagher, he was touched by her tragic loss and contacted Coach Larry Wilson to offer his coaching services. While in high school, Coach D ran 400m intermediate hurdles, 400, 200, 100 yard dashes, long jump, and a mix of many relays before injury ended his track career at a young age. Coach D is a graduate of Upper Dublin High School and attended Spring Garden College and Penn State University. He is Vice President of Consolidated Development Company and Camden Securities Company, and resides in Horsham with his wife and two sons.
Stephanie Saucy
attended high school in Wichita, Kansas where she ran for the Shocker Striders—a program very similar to AOC. She raced the mile and two mile in high school, moving up to the 5000 and 10,000 meter events in college at Wichita State. She started competing in triathlons while attending Arizona State University for a masters degree in exercise physiology. She now enjoys doing both Summer Biathlons, which consist of running and target shooting, and the original Winter Biathlon combination of cross country skiing and shooting. This season marks her ninth year of coaching at AOC. Coach Saucy has been married 22 years, has five children, and resides in Harleysville.
