Bob Beamon's 29' 2 1/2" (8.90 meters) world long jump record set at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968 was finally broken by Michael Powel in 1991 in Tokyo with a jump of 29' 4 1/2" (8.95 meters)

Indoor/Winter Track

End of November through mid-March
The competition moves indoors for the winter. Practices are just as rigorous as the other seasons and the athletes learn to compete despite the “cold”. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete at various venues in the region. The season culminates at an Indoor National Competition.

  • Practices: Mondays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays
  • Competitions: Typically in the PA-NJ-NY regions. Occasionally more than one day on the weekends

Mid-March through May
